Among variouse other projects im undertaking, one of the most challeging yet it to build a coil gun, as it is potentially rather dangurouse However im sure it will work fine! Ive got 16 2200uF, 200V electrolytic capacitors to store the charged needed to fire a small metal projectile. The coil is quite small in comparison to the capacitor bank about 15cm long. Im now kinda stuck over an electrical problem - back emf and switch sparking, from discharging the capacitors, this can potentially ruin the capacitors, ive been reading up and it appears that i need to iclude a diode and a switch in parallel with the capacitor bank to avoid the back emf and switch sparking. Any know of the same problem who could help???
